LI'L SQUIRTS STORY

WHAT WE BELIEVE

We are extremely passionate about protecting not only our own children, but your children too! We have realized as parents ourselves that car seats and baby gear are not always easy to figure out. Manuals can be complicated, and online information can be confusing and inaccurate.

WHY WE DO WHAT WE DO

A car seat is the only item that you will purchase for your child that has the sole purpose of saving their life. It is so important to ensure that car seats are installed and used correctly every single time a child is in it. Our mission is to ensure that parents and caregivers have the correct and up to date information to keep their child passengers safe.

OUR PROMISE TO YOU

We will not only ensure your car seat is installed properly, but also teach you how to install it yourself. We will also give you the knowledge and confidence to make the proper future adjustments to the seat as your little one grows.

MELISSA BOX

CPST-I | CEO & Founder

Melissa Box is a leader in the Child Passenger Safety field with extensive experience managing educational programs that teach parents and caregivers about the importance of Child Passenger Safety.  She is a Certified Child Passenger Safety Technician (CPSAC) and an Instructor that has trained new technicians across Ontario, including a number Halton Hills Fire Fighters. She is on the Halton Partners for Car Seat Safety Coalition and is a very active volunteer at all their Car Seat Spot Checks and Prenatal Clinics.  Additionally, Melissa has been nominated for a Road Safety Achievement Award through the Ontario Ministry of Transportation for her volunteer efforts with the Safety Coalition. She is also one a handful of Canadian Technicians trained in transporting Children with Special Healthcare Needs through the Philadelphia Children’s Hospital.

Before Melissa started Li’l Squirts she had a successful Marketing career as a Senior Corporate Account Manager with an agency specializing in event planning and Trade Shows (including planning and executing Auto Shows and Ride & Drive Events across Canada and Internationally). When Melissa become pregnant with her son, Camden, she decided to work part time at Snuggle Bugz in order to learn more about the latest trends in Baby Gear. While working there she fell in love with the industry as a whole and, in particular, with child safety and education.

When Camden was born, although Melissa had learned a great deal about car seat safety from working at Snuggle Bugz and reading car seat manuals, she was still unsure if Camden’s Car Seat was installed correctly. After doing some research she could not find any CPSAC Certified Technician’s in her area, so, she decided to take the technician’s course so she could feel confident that she was using her car seat correctly.

Melissa developed the original concept for Li’l Squirts while working at Snuggle Bugz. Having to comfort several mothers who were concerned about whether their car seats were installed properly and equally upset with trying to wash their car seat covers, see them shrink and then having no idea how to put them back on the frame. When Camden turned 18 months old, Melissa realized she was in the same predicament when she noticed how dirty her son's car seat had become. After searching for local car seat cleaning companies, she was surprised to find that there were none in Canada, so, the concept for Li’l Squirts was born.

Since Li’l Squirts opened in May 2016, Melissa and her team have helped thousands of parents, grandparents and caregivers ensure that their car seats are not only installed and cleaned correctly, but are also used correctly every time the child is buckled in.

WE PROMISE TO SUPPORT YOU

We will not only ensure your car seat is installed properly, but also teach you how to install it yourself. We will also give you the knowledge and confidence to make the proper future adjustments to the seat as your little one grows.
